How long will your AIT program take?

Enter your approved hours, start date and weekly training pace to estimate a completion date.

Virginia normally requires 2,000 AIT hours within 24 months. Qualifying education can reduce the requirement to 320, 1,000 or 1,500 hours; the board decides which route applies. Edit the hours if the board approved a different requirement for you. Official source (checked 2026-09-17).

The standard 2,000-hour program must be completed within 24 months, subject to approved extension. Education routes reduce hours to 1,500, 1,000 or 320; specified prior management experience may receive board-approved credit. Maintain monthly reports and submit accumulated reports and completion documentation within 30 days after completion. Obtain approval before counting training hours. Official guidance.

Enter a valid start date, required hours (1–20,000), and weekly pace (1–80) to calculate.

This is a planning estimate, not a board-approved completion date. It assumes the same pace every week, without breaks. Eligibility, approvals, minimum durations, rotations and reporting rules still apply. For a months-based or experience-based route, use your board’s approved timeline.
